Earlier this month, the Verger team spent a morning volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad, stepping away from the office to support local families during some of their most difficult days.
The team split into two groups for the visit. One group worked through the House's Meals from the Heart program, preparing bagged lunches for families staying in the Family Rooms. The other joined the Clean Up Crew, helping with indoor and outdoor tasks to keep the House welcoming and well cared for. The morning was designed as both a hands-on service opportunity and a chance for colleagues to work alongside one another outside their usual roles.
Service has always been part of how Verger thinks about its role in this community, not as a separate initiative but as an extension of the same values the firm brings to its client relationships: showing up, following through, and putting someone else's needs first. Mornings like this one also give the team a chance to work together differently than they do day to day, side by side on a shared task rather than across a table or a spreadsheet.
The House has long provided a home away from home for families with children receiving medical care, and its volunteer program is central to that mission. Last year alone, volunteers contributed more than 16,000 hours preparing meals, assisting with household tasks, and supporting families in other ways. Being part of that effort, even for a single morning, felt like a natural fit for a firm built around long-term partnership and care for the institutions and communities it serves.
The team closed out the morning with lunch together before heading back to the office. We are grateful to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Piedmont Triad for the opportunity to serve and look forward to continuing to find ways to support the families and organizations that make this community stronger.
