Verger in the Community: An Immersive Experience Honoring Winston-Salem’s Black History

This month, team members from Verger attended a visionary cultural experience, the "Traveling While Black" exhibit at Winston-Salem's historic Union Station, hosted by the Magnolia House Foundation.

This immersive AR/VR experience offered a window into the challenges Black Americans faced with restricted movement throughout our nation's history, and the innovative ways communities created safe spaces in response. The exhibit powerfully illustrated how "The Green Book" served as a crucial resource for Black travelers navigating a segregated America.

In our day-to-day work managing investments, we're constantly analyzing data and looking forward. Taking time to look back and understand the historical contexts that have shaped our communities provides valuable perspective that enriches both our professional outlook and personal connections.

Several team members found the exhibit's focus on resilience and community-building deeply moving, sparking meaningful conversations that carried over into our team lunch. The discussions that followed were thoughtful and thought-provoking – exactly the kind of engagement that we cherish beyond the numbers and portfolios.
