We are pleased to share that Verger’s CEO, Jim Dunn, has been recognized among a group of 15 distinguished leaders by the Triad Business Journal in the 2025 C-Suite Awards. The award recipients gathered on July 24th at a celebration in High Point, NC, where executives from a variety of Triad organizations were commended for their leadership and contributions to their communities. The Verger team was honored to join this esteemed group of executives, colleagues, and community members to shine a spotlight on Jim and his fellow honorees.

In selecting this year’s group of C-Suite award recipients, the Triad Business Journal’s panel of judges sought out leaders with a proven track record of guiding their organizations through challenges, yielding measurable improvements, and making lasting contributions within their industries. In Jim’s case, the panel particularly appreciated his long-term contributions to Verger through team and firm growth, cultivation of an inclusive culture and leading talent, and commitment to authentic community engagement.

“It is a true honor to be recognized as part of this impressive group of individuals, and to be connected by a shared mission of helping our colleagues and communities thrive. I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the role of my fellow leaders in these successful organizations – but, more importantly, to celebrate the team members that inspire us to show up as the best versions of ourselves each day,” Jim shared.

This specific recognition of Jim as a leading CEO follows Verger’s broader recognition as a 2025 Best Place to Work by the Triad Business Journal in May of this year. Verger’s first place ranking in the Micro category was, in part, a result of anonymous employee surveys conducted by Quantum Workplace, and reflects the strength of Verger’s culture, the dedication of our team, and our continued focus on creating an environment where people feel valued and supported.

Jim has played a crucial role in establishing Verger’s culture as the founding CEO and continued steward of Verger’s core values. Jim was instrumental in intentionally establishing Verger as a flat organization to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of our staff. This structure has allowed Verger colleagues greater decision-making, responsibility, and opportunity in every role. “Seeing the Verger team embrace and express our core values with one another, with clients, and within our communities over the past 11 years has been deeply rewarding,” said Jim, reflecting on the C-Suite Awards and how Verger stands out. “I am proud every day to see our mission of investing in the lives of others come alive,” Jim added.

In addition to helping create Verger out of the Wake Forest University Office of Investments, Jim successfully transitioned to Verger the internship program he began during his tenure as Wake Forest's CIO and has since overseen the hosting of over 135 interns from a diverse range of backgrounds. At one of Verger 10-year anniversary celebrations, former interns spoke about how their experiences at Verger have shaped their lives and careers and highlighted the positive impact of Jim's support and mentorship.

Jim’s leadership has also been honored with 5 consecutive years of placement on Business North Carolina’s Power List. The annual list, which is developed through reporting, public nominations, and editorial research, recognizes leaders across a wide range of industries who are helping shape the future of North Carolina through their influence in business and the community.

Please join us in congratulating Jim and the other recipients of the 2025 C-Suite Awards. We look forward to following their continued leadership contributions in North Carolina and beyond.
