Verger Capital Management is dedicated to enriching our community through meaningful partnerships. We are proud to have supported the 26th annual RiverRun International Film Festival, held from April 18 to April 27, 2024, as a sponsor of the PitchFest student filmmaking contest.
As part of our commitment to nurturing emerging talent, Verger sponsored the festival's PitchFest program. This initiative provides students from various universities with a platform to pitch their documentary film ideas to a panel of industry experts. This year, students from WFU, Tulane, and UNC Wilmington showcased their creativity and passion for storytelling. Their projects covered a diverse range of topics, including environmental issues, aging, LGBTQ+ experiences, and the journey of an aspiring Olympic track and field athlete. The students delivered compelling pitches, supported by engaging film clips that provided insight into their projects. The judging panel posed insightful questions, helping clarify aspects of the students' storytelling arcs and filmmaking techniques.
In support of these aspiring filmmakers, Verger's sponsorship contributed to the prizes the students received as well as travel stipends which aims to empower students to pursue their projects further and develop their talents. We commend all participants for their outstanding work and look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in the world of filmmaking.

The Verger team attended various events associated with the festival, engaging with the diverse array of films and ideas showcased at RiverRun. From screenings to panel discussions, our team participated in the festival's rich offerings in downtown Winston-Salem. Among the highlights was the world premiere of "Through The Lines," directed by Gerry Gibson, offering a glimpse into the intense world of soccer the NC Fusion pre-professional team's 2021 season. As the festival drew to a close, members of our team joined in at the closing night gala and mingled with sponsors, filmmakers, and attendees, marking a moment of community engagement and appreciation for the power of storytelling to connect audiences.
